Any cyclic and ring compounds having pi bonds and planar structure can be characterized as aromatic or antiaromatic.
the difference is that the no. of pi electron present in the cyclic, planar, conjugated system.
on the basis of pi electron count we can easily characterize the aromaticity of Any given compounds.
If the compound having 4n+2pi electron it is said to be aromatic. where n is an integer. n=0,1,2,3...
e.g. benzene, cyclopropanyl action etc. more correctly if compound having 2,6,10.... values are aromatic. while 4n pi electron containing compounds are antiaromatic.
e. g. cyclobutadiene, cyclopropanyl anion, etc.
