Cyclohexane is alkane or alkene?
•If it is alkane, though it is formed of single bonds, then why its formula no. of hydrogen is double the no. of carbon(C6H12).while in alkane no. of hydrogen is 2 more than double the no. of carbon(CnH2n+2) ?
•If it is alkene (since it's formula is C6H12) then why it's suffix is 'ane'?

Please explain in an easy way without copying from the net!!!!!

It is an isomer of alkene. You plzz go through the chapter, u will see dat no isomer is written with ene or yne as suffix. Always ane...

Natasha7530: But there's another isomer for example Benzene. It has ene as suffix......???
sourinkrillex37: Benzene is C6H6, not C6H12
Natasha7530: If cyclohexane is an isomer of Alkene then why it doesn't have any double bonds cause Alkene have double bonds
Natasha7530: Also, isn't Benzene an isomer?
sourinkrillex37: Ok...
sourinkrillex37: Cyclohexane is a saturated, closed chain, alicyclic hydrocarbon. These type of hydrocarbons only contain single bonds.
sourinkrillex37: And of course, it is not an Alkane or Alkyne, it is a 'Cycloalkane'. It comes under the closed, cyclic group of hydrocarbons.... Okk??? Is it ok now??
