Answer:

Cyclotron works on the principle that a charged particle moving normal to a magnetic field experiences magnetic lorentz force due to which the particle moves in a circular path and hence accelerates it. Since a Neutron is neutral by charge. So, a cyclotron cannot accelerate it.

Cyclotron is a device which is used to accelerate the positive ions.

Explanation:

By regular relatively low accelerations of charged particles between two electrodes that turn the radio frequency potential back and forth, cyclotron accelerators achieve high projectile energies. Particles are injected, stripped of the electron and accelerated by the field in the gap between the electrodes. During periods when the electrical field is out of phase with the desired motion, the particles circulate inside the hollow d-shaped electrodes. This is accomplished by having them travel around spiral circle pathways under the control of a heavy magnetic field. Cyclotron is also referred to as a magnetic resonance accelerator.
