GIVEN :-

  • RADIUS OF CYLINDRICAL TANK = 8 cm
  • HEIGHT OF CYLINDRICAL TANK = 12 cm

TO FIND :-

  • TOTAL SURFACE AREA (TSA)
  • LATERAL SURFACE AREA (LSA)

SOLUTION :-

LATERAL SURFACE AREA (LSA) OF CYLINDER = 2πrh

 = 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 12 \times 8 = 603.4 \: cm {}^{2}

TOTAL SURFACE AREA (TSA) OF CYLINDER = 2πr ( r + h)

 = 2 \times  \frac{22}{7}  \times 8 \:  \: (8 + 12) \\  \\  =  \frac{352}{7} (16)= 804.5 \: cm {}^{2}

FORMULA USED :-

i)tsa \: of \: cylinder \:  = 2\pi  r(r + h) \\  \\ ii) \: csa \: of \:  cylinder \:  = 2\pi  rh
