1. The speaker in this poem is the sister who wants to gift something to her brother to save him from the cold.
2. Yes, the speaker is really generous because even though she did not have money still she thought of her brother and decided to gift him the skirt that she had.
3. The speaker chose to gift a skirt to her brother.
4. The speaker seriously believes that the skirt would help her brother from the harsh cold which was surrounding him.
5. The skirt was a very old skirt and contained some holes as the speaker was poor and was using it for quite some time.

The message that we get after reading the poem is that the value of the gift does not matter only the love between people matter. This poem shows us how much the sister loved her brother and that she was willing to part even with the single belonging that she had.
