Given : A current through a coil of self inductance 10mH increases from 0 to 1 in 0.1s

To Find :  induced emf in the coil

a) 0.1 V b) 1V c) 10 V d) 0.01 V

Solution:

induced emf  in the coil  = L di/dt

(-ve sign is not taken as -ve sign just show oppose  )

di/dt  =  (1  - 0)/( 0. 1)

= 1/(0.1)

= 10

L = 10 mH   = 10 x 10⁻³  H

induced emf  in the coil  = 10 x 10⁻³ * 10

= 100 /1000

= 1/10

= 0.1  V

induced emf in the coil = 0.1  V
