→1.)A force is a push or pulls acting upon an object as a result of its interaction with another object. There are a variety of types of forces.

There are 2 types of forces, contact forces, and act at a distance force. Every day you are using forces. Force basically pushes and pull. When you push and pull you are applying a force to an object.

→2.)The most notable of these are known as the "six simple machines": the wheel and axle, the lever, the inclined plane, the pulley, the screw, and the wedge, although the latter three are actually just extensions or combinations of the first three.

→3.)There are three types of levers: first class, second class and third class. The difference between the three classes depends on where the force is, where the fulcrum is and where the load is.

Common Levers

Some common types of Class 1 levers are a pair of scissors or boat oars, toilet handle, seesaw, and crowbars. Class 2 levers include wheelbarrows, bottle openers, and nail clippers. Some common types of Class 3 levers are fishing poles, mousetraps, and tongs.

→4.)Pulleys make lifting easier because more sections of rope are supporting the weight. It is much easier to pull down than to pull up a load, as our own body weight and gravity help us to pull down. Thus, a pulley is used extensively to do twice as much work with the same effort.

→5.)Such a pulley makes our work easier by simply changing the direction of the force, i.e. a load is lifted up using a downward effort. It is easier to lift a load up by pulling it down rather than by pulling it up directly. Note that a simple pulley does not reduce the effort required to lift a load.
