- “Warm” is a comfortable temperature.
- We start to use “hot” when the temperature starts to become uncomfortable.
- In that sense the difference is very subjective.
- And the there are exceptions.
- For example, a hot tea or coffee or chocolate is nearly always preferable to
- a warm tea or coffee or chocolate.
- We prefer to talk about a “hot meal” rather than a “warm meal”
- Many people prefer a “hot bath” to a “warm bath”.
- And some people will say “I enjoy the hot weather”.
- We could say on a scale of “cold - cool - warm - hot”, that the temperatures we would normally expect would be between “cool” and “warm”, and “hot” and “cold” are the extremes
