• “Warm” is a comfortable temperature.
• We start to use “hot” when the temperature starts to become uncomfortable.
• In that sense the difference is very subjective.
• And the there are exceptions.
• For example, a hot tea or coffee or chocolate is nearly always preferable to
• a warm tea or coffee or chocolate.
• We prefer to talk about a “hot meal” rather than a “warm meal”
• Many people prefer a “hot bath” to a “warm bath”.
• And some people will say “I enjoy the hot weather”.
• We could say on a scale of “cold - cool - warm - hot”, that the temperatures we would normally expect would be between “cool” and “warm”, and “hot” and “cold” are the extremes
