(d) Give geographical reasons:
(i) Mumbai has a low annual range of temperature than Jaipur.
(ii) Western Rajasthan receives very little rainfall.
(iii) Even in summer Shimla is cooler than Delhi.

(i) Jaipur has higher annual range of temperature because it is far from the sea and lie in desert area which has higher range of temperature. Mumbai is close to the sea and has low range of

temperature .

(ii) Western Rajasthan receives no rain from the Arabian Sea branch of the South West Monsoon winds. The Arabian Sea branch of the South west monsoon blows parallel to the Aravalli Hills. Since the moisture-bearing winds do not strike the mountains, they do not cause any precipitation in Western Rajasthan.

(iii) Shimla is cooler than Delhi in summer as it is located at a higher altitude than that of Delhi. Thus due to Normal Lapse Rate Shimla enjoys a cooler climate than Delhi.
