Answer:
1_Protecting New Hampshire's landscapes has been the driving force behind the Forest Society since it began in 1901. Our land conservation ethic is deeply rooted in protecting the state's most important landscapes while promoting the wise use of its renewable natural resources. Maintaining this balance has made the Forest Society one of the most effective land conservation organizations in the country, partnering with public agencies, communities, and private landowners to protect over one million acres in our first century.
In the next quarter century, our mission is to protect an additional one million acres of the state's most significant lands. In the face of growing development pressures, we believe the need to preserve the landscapes that shape New Hampshire's quality of life has never been greater. To achieve our mission, we are partnering with individuals and organizations with these goals in mind:
Conserve at least 25 percent of open space in each community
Protect sustainably-managed forests to support our forest-based economy
Secure key habitats to preserve the biodiversity of our native plants and animals
Keep our waters clean to ensure we all have enough clean drinking water
Save our productive farmlands so that every community can benefit from healthy, locally grown food.
These goals are part of our New Hampshire Everlasting initiative.
