D. Give reasons for the following.
1. The mountains are less populated than the plains.
2. The plains are also called lowlands.​

1 : The mountains are thinly populated because of harsh climate. The slopes are steep and soil is lack. Plains are more thickly populated than deserts.

2 : Plains are called lowland because they are a depression formed due to formation of elevated lands around it and they have the least height if you compare them with other relief features.
