In the figure, ABCD is a rhombus and DBPQ is a
square. If ((AO)=6 cm and I(BO)=8 cm, find the area
of the complete figure.

Answer:

⇒  We have given area of rhombus = 96cm2  and d1=16cm.

⇒  Area of rhombus = 21×d1×d2

⇒  96=21×16×d2.

∴  d2=12cm

⇒  In given figure ABCD is a rhombus.

⇒  Let d1=AC=16cm  and d2=BD=12cm

⇒  We know that diagonals of rhombus perpendicularly bisect each other.

⇒  So, AO=8cm and DO=6cm        --- ( 1 )

⇒  In △AOD,

⇒  AD2=AO2+DO2              [By using Pythagoras theorem]

⇒   AD2=82+62             [From (1)]

⇒   AD2=64+36

⇒   AD2=100

∴   AD=10cm
