(a)3(x - 1)-(x + 4) = x +5(x - 1)

3x-3-x-4 = x+5x-5

2x-7 = 6x-5

2x-6x = -5+7

-4x = 2

x = -2/4

x = -1/2

(c) 3(2x - 1) + 2(3x –1) +5(x + 1) =51

6x-3+6x-2+5x+5=51

12x+5x-5+5=51

17x=51

x=51/17

x=3
