Heya mate...

Because Oxygen has gave its Non bonding electron pair to bonding orbital (ie Bonding Molecular orbital) ( What i am here taking about is Molecular Orbital Theory) . The Carbon become angry with Oxygen. ... Carbon and Oxygen are very good friend (Like Yeh Dosti Hm nhii Todenge) ,both having a lone pair.♥️

The reason why CO binds more strongly to metals than oxygen is due to the electronic configuration of these molecules.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly toxic gas that can form a bond with metals through its carbon atom.

The reason why CO binds more strongly to metals than oxygen is due to the electronic configuration of these molecules.

Oxygen has two lone pairs of electrons, which makes it a highly electronegative element.

This means that it tends to attract electrons towards itself and forms strong covalent bonds with other elements, such as hydrogen, carbon, and nitrogen.

In contrast, carbon has a smaller electronegativity than oxygen, and it forms covalent bonds with other elements less strongly.

When carbon is bonded to a metal, the electrons in the carbon-metal bond are shared unequally, with the metal atom having a greater share of the electrons.

This creates a partial positive charge on the carbon atom, making it an electrophile.

This makes it easier for CO to bind to metal atoms through its carbon atom.

Furthermore, the bond between CO and metal is also strengthened by the fact that the carbon atom in CO is a very good donor of electrons due to the presence of the lone pair of electrons on the oxygen atom. This helps to stabilize the CO-metal bond and makes it more difficult to break.

In summary, CO binds to metal through its carbon atom because the carbon atom is more electrophilic and less electronegative than oxygen, and it can also donate electrons to strengthen the CO-metal bond.
