1. The phrase 'snow - covered' indicates that it is winter.
2. The cricket couldn't find any food to eat and no shelter for winter.
3. He was facing such a problem because he was least bothered about anything during the summer and so he didn't collect any food for himself which would last him for the winter season, even though the ants told him to do so.
4. The cricket is lazy, not intelligent, arrogant and ignorant. If he'd been smart enough he would have listened to the hard - working ants an collected food for winter.
