Elphinstone College is an organization of higher education which is affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It was instituted in 1856, and it is among one of the magnificent institutions of the University of Mumbai. The "grand old man of India", Dadabhai Narojii had studied at Elphinstone College and later became the educator of Natural Philosophy and Mathematics in this college at the 27 years of his age. Naroji became the first Indian who was appointed as teacher of the college.
