Advantages:

The core of democracy cries equality and fraternity. So the principles of democracy are more or less governed by these core ideologies.

Democracy is such a form of government wherein each and every process which decides the present and future of its citizens should be transparent. The government is accountable to the general public. So, with this increases the responsibility taken up by the ruling party and thus they take each and every step cautiously. These leaves very little room for errors.

It has been observed that under the aegis of democracy development and prosperity of the people increases. Just compare today's India with the India of 1947. There is obviously a stark difference between them. It is doubtful whether we would have got to see the same level of development under a monarchy or dictatorship.

Disadvantages:

The rich and undeserving politicians sometimes greatly influence some of the uneducated and inexperienced voters. These voters blindly vote these candidates and bring the lion to their own house.

Another charge against democracy is that as it gives freedom of expression to all shades of opinion. It easily leads to the formation of parties, and party government only means talk and talk and talk, democratic parliaments being more or less dignified debating societies.
