Over the past several weeks in my leadership class, I have learned much about what constitutes a leader and the processes of leadership. People go through the leadership process and become leaders based on what they believe in, the values that they hold close to their hearts. Over time, the transform more and more to fill different leadership opportunity roles. This got me to think, “what are my values?”
I have always valued human life. It is hard living in a state where an eleven-year-old boy killing a home intruder is celebrated. I understand that it is self-defense, but celebrating the taking of another life for whatever reason has always been something that bothered me because I value life. I wouldn’t want anyone to die for any reason other than old age, no matter how terrible they may have been in life. I firmly believe that people change. Because of my faith in Christ, I believe that anyone can be called back and find new life in Him. We shouldn’t take away anyone’s opportunity to do so simply because we deemed them as evil in our own eyes. I value honesty. I do not like it when people lie. It angers me. Telling the truth is so simple. If you feel like you can’t tell someone the truth, I think you need to change how you act and what you do so that you are not ashamed of telling the truth and don’t feel as if you must lie. I also value people who walk with integrity and work hard. These values show who I am. I love what is good about people and mourn when I see them fall short. That is just who I am. But how do these values affect my future self?
One of the religion professors spoke to the boys living on the third floor of Allen a few weeks ago. He made a statement that has stuck with me ever since. He said, “Who I am now is connected to who I am in the future.” Taking that into consideration, I believe that these values will define who my future self is. They will connect me to my future leadership roles. I feel a deep desire to become a minister of some sort here in the Bible Belt. I am not sure what type of minister yet, but I am sure that I am supposed to be a leader in that area. I believe that these values will guide my actions and lead me into that position. In a leadership position in ministry, I must teach others to about God, to love what is good and avoid sin in their lives. I think that being able to love what is good in others will help me to do that. I believe that my value for human life will help me to care for the entirety of an individual’s life, soul and all. This will allow me to focus on their needs, physically and spiritually.
Overall, I am still unsure about my future. I know that I am going to be in a leadership role where I am caring for others and teaching them to be more like Christ. I am not sure what specific role I will play in that though. I do feel like the values I have now for life and everything that is good will keep me on track. While I am not certain where God will place me, I am certain that these values that he has given me will guide my actions so that I evolve into the leader that he is going to make me into each day.
I cant understand what you are actually asking!!
i hope this can help you!!
If it's wrong i'm sorry..
