I love everything about the rain. I love how a bright day turns into an even brighter storm. I love how when the first drop falls from the sky, it lands on your nose, making you laugh. And when it does rain, I love how the earth dances with the sweetest scent. This scent somersaults around you, and comes rolling in with the clouds. The grey hues fuse with the beautiful dull orange of an evening rain.
I love how everything becomes like your mind. Dark, happy, full of energy and thunder. I love how everything makes sense. I love how gloomy feels cozy, and how the cold wind feels like a second skin. I love how it makes you smile. How the songs you listen to speak to you more than usual. How the words of a poem seem to roll off a page and enter your soul with the beat of the rain and as fiercely as the resonating thunder.
I love how when you are lucky enough to get the side seat of a shared auto the rain plays with you. It is in competition with the wind, wanting to get your attention, wanting to please you. And you sit there grinning like a fool, getting drenched and pampered. I love how you are ready to fight with the calling wind. How you run after your umbrella, determined it shouldn’t break. But you know you’re fighting a losing battle. You do it anyway.
I love how when you come home, you’ve to shed your muddy jeans. The rain has left a mark on your clothes. It doesn’t want you to forget the thrill it brings to you. You promise you’ll always remember as you wash off the mud on your legs with warm water. I love how the warmth tickles your skin, a tingling feeling that wraps around like a ribbon.
I love how the rain makes you write, like this. I love how you want to keep your diary on your knees, and as you listen to it singing to you from the outside, you simply know this time you’ll be writing something different. And then, I love how the words cascade down the page, much like the rain on your window pane.
