Dear traveller, I have been to Haridwar and have made a write-up about my experience. Can you please tell if you like the way I write? Is it interesting or boring or okay? What all did you like/disliked? I wish to write more and wish to learn from this article before I proceed. Please help.
My jouney to Haridwar and Rishikesh.
Aum Namah Shivaya. There I was, standing at Noida City Centre metro station. So many lives meandering through other lives. And I was at the pinnacle of eternal confusion. Where do I get a bus from? Will the money be enough? And a few more inter-tangled questions I could not fathom to solve. I stared at the evening sky for an answer and I realized – “Why spend time solving these questions, let me just do it.”
The metro arrived, hopped in, enjoyed the ride with the dose of tension my mind was busy avoiding. Thanks to the live announcements in Metro, I could easily know when my station arrived. I got down at Kashmere Gate station and proceeded to the nearby “Maharana Pratap ISBT”. Hopped in happily into the bus – my first big journey from Delhi and here I come.
I stepped inside the bus looking for a good seat – one near a window, one somewhere in the middle so that the ride was smoother, one which had enough leg room. And I was lucky, I got one such seat. Its 4.30 am and the roads are almost empty. A night with a mix of silence, calmness, fear and excitement. I reached Haridwar at about 5 am.
First things first, I prayed to God for letting me reach till here J . The Ganga River was a splendour. The auspiciousness and the sheer strength of the waves was all the more intriguing. Guided by my human nature, I wanted to see something new, something different. I stepped towards my next destination – Rishikesh. I got on a cycle rickshaw and reached near the Haridwar Bus Terminus. There were 4 to 5 auto-rickshaws lined up. I got into one and continued my journey. As the auto voyaged through the temple town and through the hills, my camera and I got to see amazing places. I am amazed at the level of devotion of so many people as I pass through. Yes there are a few negative aspects I did observe but the positives outnumber the negatives by a factor of 10.
Rishikesh is located at a much higher altitude compared to Haridwar. I was awestruck by the implicit sense of serenity. The soil had a wonderful fragrance and so did the ambience. I roamed around like a nomad from one junction to another with an amazing level of ignorance regarding the place. I saw ashrams tucked alongside, foreign tourists who seemed a tad more knowledgeable about the place than me (howzat?) and the wonderful Ganga running alongside. I asked people for help and they were extremely generous in helping. They told about Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula and many more landmarks. I followed the footsteps of many other tourists. In between I took off to adjoining places – the roads less taken. And it was beautiful. No wonder sages found these place a good choice for their sadhanas.
I spent a lot of enjoying this. I made up my mind as to why I should return to Delhi and work, so that I can see more places.
Hope this will help you
