Answer:

The molar percentage of O2 in the mixture is 50%.

Explanation:

Given

Mass of N2 = 7 grams

mass of O2 = 8 grams

Molar Percentage of O2 = ??

Solution

As we know that, In order to find molar percentage first we have to convert given mass into number of moles,

therefore,

No. of Moles = Given mass/ Molecular mass

Molecular mass of O2 = 16 g/ mol

Molecular mass of N2 = 14 g/ mol

For N2

No. of moles of N2 = 7/ 14

No. of moles of N2 = 0.5 moles

while, for O2

No. of moles of O2 = 8/ 16

No. of moles of O2 = 0.5 moles

Formula for molecular percentage can be written as:

Molecular percentage of O2 = (no. of moles of O2/ total no. of moles of mixture) X 100

Molecular percentage of O2 = (0.5/ 1) X 100

Molecular percentage of O2 = 50 %
