The main reason for opposing the construction of a dam on the river is the displacement of people. When a dam is constructed so many people, especially tribal people, are left with no harbour.

Dams disturb the natural habitat. Not only that but there is always a risk of flooding and natural calamities. Dams require to be built at higher altitudes destroying both flora and fauna.

Another reason is that nature is a part of the Adivasi culture system. They believe that nature should not be disturbed.
