Answer:

Given :-

  • Ratio of share = 5:2
  • Dan gets €55 more than David

To Find :-

Total winnings

Solution :-

Let the Dans amount be 5x

5x = 2x + 55

5x - 2x = 55

3x = 55

x = 55/3

5x = 5 × 55/3 = 5x = 275/3

3x = 3 × 55/3 = 110/3

Total share => 128.34

 \sf  We \:  are \:  given,

• \:  \sf Dan  \: and \:  David \:  share \:  their \: money  \: in \:  the \:  ratio \:  5:2

•  \:  \sf Dan  \: gets \:   £55  \: more \:  than \:  David.

 \sf Let \:  the \:  constant \:  be \:  x

 \sf \therefore Dan \:  got \:  £ 5x \: and\: David \:  got \:  £ 2x

 \sf According \:  to \:  the \:  question,

 \sf5x - 2x  = 55

 \sf⇒3x = 55

 \sf⇒x =  \frac{55}{3}

 \sf⇒x = 18.33

 \sf \blue {Hence,  Dan  \: got £ (5 \times 18.33) =£91.65 } \:  and

 \sf \blue{David  \: got  \: £ (2 \times 18.33) = £36.66}

 \sf \green{Therefore, \:  they  \: win \:  in  \: total  \: = £ (91.65 + 36.66)  = £128.31}
