Answer:

Dan: Paul = 9:5

Dan £9x, Paul £5x

9x-26=5x+26

9x-5x=52

4x=52

x=13

9x=117

5x=65

paul had £5x=£65

Paul originally have £65

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Paul originally have £x.

Therefore, Dan originally have £\frac{9x}{5}

{Since Dan and Paul divided some amount of money between then in 9 : 5 ratio}

Now, if Dan gives Paul £26, then their money ratio becomes 1 : 1.

So, \frac{x + 26}{\frac{9x}{5} -26 } = 1

x + 26 = \frac{9x}{5} - 26

\frac{9x}{5} - x = 52

\frac{4x}{5} = 52

x = £65 (Answer)
