let his friends weight be x

sum of weight of danny ND his friend = 150 kg

according to question

(2x - 84 )+ x = 150

3x = 150+84

3x = 234

x = 234/3

x = 78 kg

therefore ,

weight of Danny = 150-78 =72kg

weight of Danny's friend = 78 kg

Hope it helps you !!

prakhar8584: thanks
prakhar8584: and how u puted x there after 84
prakhar8584: wrong
ansh2014chauhan: see, 2x -84 is the weight of danny
ansh2014chauhan: and x is the weight of his friend
ansh2014chauhan: and we are given that sum of Danny's weight and his friends weight is =150
ansh2014chauhan: so from there I put x after 84

Given:

Danny and his friend has a combined weight of 150 kg

Danny's weight is 84 kg less than twice his friend's weight

To Find:

Weight of each of them

Solution:

The weight of Danny = 72 kg

The weight of Danny's friend's weight = 78 kg

Let Danny's friend's weight be x kg and Danny's weight be y kg.

According to the question,

x + y = 150    - (1)

and

y = 2x - 84       - (2)

Substituting the valye of y from equation 2 in equation 1,

x + (2x - 84) = 150

or 3x = 150 + 84

or 3x = 234

or x = 78 kg

Putting the value of x in equation 2,

y = 2x - 84

= 2(78) - 84

= 156 - 84

= 72 kg
