Answer:

12x {}^{2}  - 7x + 1 = 0 \\  = 12 {x  }^{2}  - 4x - 3x + 1 = 0 \\  = 4x(3x - 1) - 1(3x - 1) = 0 \\  = (3x - 1)(4x - 1) = 0 \\  = x =  \frac{1}{3} and \:  \frac{1}{4}

12x^2 -7x +1 = (4x - 1)(3x - 1)

STEPS:

1) Split into groups

=> (12x^2 -3x) + (-4x + 1)

2) Factor out 3x

=>  3x(4x - 1) + ( -4x + 1)

3) Factor out -1

=>  3x(4x - 1) - (4x - 1)

4) Factor 4x-1

=> (4x - 1)(3x - 1)
