General elections held in British India in December 1945 to choose members of the Council of State and Central Legislative Assembly. The Indian National Congress appeared as the biggest party, obtaining 59 of the 102 elected seats. The Muslim League acquired all Muslim constituencies but disappointed to gain any other seats.
