Given:  A box contains a total of 400 tickets, The ratio of blue green

red tickets is 1 : 2 : 4 and The ratio of green yellow Orange tickets is 1:3:6

To find: How many tickets are there of each color?

Solution:

  • Now, lets consider the tickets with their first letter of the color.
  • Now, we know that :

                   b : g : r = 1 : 2 : 4 and that g : y : o = 1 : 3 : 6.

  • Now multiply by 2, we get

                   the ratio 1 : 3 : 6 is equivalent to the ratio 2 : 6 : 12.

  • Thus, g : y : o = 2 : 6 : 12.
  • Now lets multiply by 2 and combine the ratio, we get:

                   b : g : r = 1 : 2 : 4 and g : y : o = 2 : 6 : 12

  • And since the term g is 2 in each  ratio, then we can combine these to form a single ratio, b : g : r : y : o = 1 : 2 : 4 : 6 : 12.
  • This ratio concludes that for every blue ticket, there are 2 green, 4 red, 6 yellow, and 12  orange tickets.
  • Also, if there is 1 blue ticket, then the total number of tickets would be as follows:

                  1+2+4+6+12 = 25 tickets

  • But we have given that total number of tickets are 400
  • So blue tickets are:

                  400 / 25 = 16.

  • Now multiply by 16,

                  he ratio we have b : g : r : y : o = 1 : 2 : 4 : 6 : 12 changes to be:

                  b : g : r : y : o = 16 : 32 : 64 : 96 : 192

Answer:

         So the tickets are blue = 16, green =  32, red = 64, yellow = 96, orange = 192
