The lesson horegallu by Sudha Murthy compares her own grandfather and one of her colleagues to Horegallu ( a stone can bear weight).

The title horegallu is very apt to the lesson.In this lesson ,there are two main characters ,the grand father and ratna.We can relate grand father and ratna to a horegallu.A horegallu is a large flat stone on which any one can sit and take rest.It is very essential in any journey.We all carry our burdens according to our situations and capacities.But we need to put down our burden and take rest occasionally . Horegallu gives everyone that opportunity to do so. It helps people regain their strength.Both Ratna and grand father are good listeners. Both Ratna and grand father listens to others very carefully.People speak to them and find relaxation.Grand father and Ratna do a tremendous social service. People can put down their burden on them and reduce the depth of their troubles. So we can say that both of them serve like horegallu.
