DATES IN HISTORY
The study of history is usually divided into three
parts-ancient history, medieval history and
modern history. These periods are not standard
across the world but are widely accepted.
In history, you see dates written as BC or AD. BC
stands for Before Christ or the number of years
before the time of Jesus Christ. AD stands for Anno
Domini or 'in the year of our Lord.' The date of
birth of Jesus Christ is taken as the reference point,
which was more than 2,000 years ago. All dates
before the birth of Christ are counted backwards.
