Answer:

1.278kg tomatoes

Step-by-step explanation:

Add ,

7kg+3kg=10kg

670g+42g=712g

To get the quantity of Tomatoes

Subtract,

12kg-10kg=2kg

let's convert kg into g

1kg=1000g

So,

2kg=2000g

Tomatoes=2000-712=1278/1.278

David bought 12 kg vegetables. From these vegetables he bought 7 kg 670 gram potatoes, 3 kg 42 gram onions and rest were tomatoes.

We have to find the weight of tomatoes.

weight of potatoes = 7 kg 670g = 7 kg + 670/1000 kg [ ∵ 1 kg = 1000g ]

= 7 kg + 0.67 kg

= 7.67 kg

similarly, weight of tomatoes = 3 kg 42 g = 3 kg + 42/1000

= 3 kg + 0.042 kg

= 3.042 kg

Here,

total weight of vegetables bought by David = weight of potatoes + weight of onion + weight of tomatoes

⇒ 12 kg = 7.67 kg + 3.042 kg + weight of tomatoes

⇒12 kg - 7.67 kg - 3.042 kg = weight of tomatoes

⇒weight of tomatoes = 12 kg - (7.67 + 3.042) kg

⇒weight of tomatoes = 12 kg - 10.712 kg

⇒weight of tomatoes = 1.288 kg = 1 kg + 288/1000 kg

= 1 kg 288 g

Therefore the weight of tomatoes is 1 kg 288 g
