Answer:

Given:-

  • David lost 10% by selling an article for rupees 2700

Find:-

  • what price he would have sold to gain 18%?

Solution:-

Let CP be 'x'

{ \sf{ \to{ \frac{x - 2700}{x}  =  \frac{10}{100} }}}

{  \sf{  \to{1 -  \frac{2700}{x} =  \frac{1}{10}  }}}

{ \sf{ \to \frac{2700}{x}  =  \frac{9}{10} {}}}

{  \to{ \sf{x = 3000}}}

Now for gaining 18% :-

Let SP be 'y'

{ \sf{ \to{ \frac{y - 3000}{3000} =  \frac{18}{100}  }}}

{ \to{ \sf{ \frac{y}{3000}  - 1 =  \frac{9}{50} }}}

{ \sf{ \to{ \frac{y}{3000} =  \frac{9}{50} + 1  }}}

{ \sf{ \to{ \frac{y}{3000}  =  \frac{9 + 50}{50} }}}

{ \to{ \sf{ \frac{y}{3000} =  \frac{59}{50}  }}}

{ \to{ \sf{y =  \frac{59}{50}  \times 3000}}}

{ \to{ \sf{y = 59 \times 60}}}

{ \sf{ \to{y = 3540}}}

So, At 3540₹ David would have sold to gain 18%.
