1. it is the highest peak in the world.

2. it is very cold and three Himalayan rivers originate from it namely the Indus, the Ganga, and the Brahmaputra.

they are very useful to mankind as they stop the rain bearing winds from going to the Central Asia. they keep the rain bearing clouds in India and help in rainfall. another use of Himalayas is that they have glaciers from glaciers we get water.

the two groups of islands in India are the Andaman and Nicobar and the Lakshadweep.

the perennial rivers in India are the Narmada, Tapi river ,Krishna, the Mahanadi,Ganga, indus and yamun.

Deccan Plateau: the the Deccan Plateau is a triangular landmass that lies to the south of the Narmada. the Eastern Ghats in the Western Ghats live in the Deccan Plateau.

there are three types of Himalayas:

1. the northernmost range is known as the great or inner Himalayas or the Himadri. it is a most continuous range consisting of the loftiest speaks with an average height of 6000 and it contains all the prominent Himalayan peaks. it is composed of granite.

2. the range climbing to the south of Himadri forms the most Rajat mountain system and is known as Himachal or lesser Himalayas and it has a compressed and altered rocks.

3. The outermost range of the Himalayas is called the Shivalik and they extend over a width of 10 to 50 kilometre and have an altitude of wearing between 9 hundred and 1100 metres.
