• It happens due to deja vu. Deja vu in french means 'already seen'. It is a quite complex phenomenon and scientists couldn't find out the exact reason for it till now . But there are several theories of why it happens.

• One of them being is discrepancy (inconsistency) in memory systems which leads to the inappropriate generation of a detailed memory from a new sensory experience.

• This means deja vu is experienced because of a mismatch between the sensory input and memory recalling output .

This is one of the reasons I knew , for more theories you can search on internet.
