Pesticides may be taken in by humans through direct or indirect ways.
Indirect ways are by eating the food produced from plants that had pesticides sprayed on them. Direct ways are by eating/drinking through mouth, absorbing through skin or breathing in.

The pesticides while spraying probably remained a little in the air. Pesticides may be mixed in water in the soil and reached the ground water. Perhaps the person drank that water. Or some pesticide fell on the skin.

Some pesticide gets washed into water streams and rivers after rains. Perhaps that happened.
It seems some pesticide is present in soft drinks. Perhaps that was the reason.

At home pesticides are used in rat mice mosquito cockroach killing liquids. These are probably contaminating food.

Food water or air contamination is the reason for a person to have DDE in the blood.
