Dear Friend,

During days like today, it’s important to know that you’re not alone. Unfortunately, there is no redo or undo button. But, you already knew that. I’m sure someone today told you that these troublesome days only make you stronger. And even though, in the back of your mind you believe them there’s probably a bigger part of you that just wants to self-loathe a bit. Right?

Guess what, snap out of it! Or else your bad day will become bad days, a bad week or snowball into a bad month. There’s no real way to sugar coat it – stuff happens. Bad days are just one of the many elements that are part of life. Instead of honing in on the negative, think of the ways things could be worse and count your blessings.

Dale Carnegie said, “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” And guess what, it’s absolutely one hundred percent true. The obstacles that we come head-to-head with in life will only make us stronger beings. It’s not about how many times you fall down instead it’s about how many times you get up and keep forging forward. While today may seem like the end of the world or a minor apocalypse, don’t allow this event to take you down because you have tomorrow.

In July 2014 I made the decision to quit social media, which included leaving my Facebook account. In the sense it is static until now. Now that more than 4 years have passed , I’ll share an update about the experiences I had faced while using social media.

My decision to leave Facebook came up due to pretty simple reasons yet (I don’t regret now)

I was not so keen on uploading photos or stories or any posts for that matter in the beginning

I was not pretty much interested in opening myself in such ways

Things took a bad turn in my 12th board exams. I secured 91% (which was Ok!!? I guess for me….).. I was aiming for the IIT’s and NIT’s.I had written JEE Main and JEE Advanced, but there was indeed a huge competition. The scores had me in the border and ultimately the dream was taken aback. Later I got myself into a decent state college.

I began starting to feel a little low about myself. After feeling screwed up I had to take some decisions one of which was leaving my FB account static. That meant leaving all my friends out of my life indeed not there are lots of ways you will not lose a good friend - - believe me.

At the time it was mildly difficult to make the decision to quit, but that was only because frequent engagement with social media that had pushed me it to build up a greater presence in my mind than it deserved. It felt like I’d be giving up something of value that I might miss. Truthfully, however, I don’t miss it, not even a little.

Logically I knew I’d free up more time for more meaningful pursuits, but emotionally it felt (at least in part) like some kind of abandonment. Once I finally came to terms with the decision, dropping social media was surprisingly easy. I had completely erased the memory of my social accounts and moved on with my life. It’s just similar to the NEURALYZER which comes in the MIB series.
