(a)   'that' means the swallow leaving the prince and going to Egypt

b) The swallow knew it could not survive the coming winter if it stayed with the prince but it didn't want to leave him

c) The prince knew the swallow wouldn't listen to his requests so he tried to order it to leave and save it's life.
