Rubella commonly known as German measles or 3-day measles. Is an infection that primarily affects the skin and lymph nodes. It is caused by the rubella virus, which is usually transmitted by droplets from the nose or throat that others breathe in. It can also pass through a pregnant woman's bloodstream to infect her unborn child. Rubella infection may begin with 1-2 days of mild fever (99-100°F, 37.2-37.8°C) and swollen, tender lymph nodes, usually in the back of the neck or behind the ears and rashes. All children are offered vaccine known as MMR II or Priorix to prevent against the disease.

Rubella is actually the name of the virus which causes German measles. Its remains for about 3 days having almost the same symptoms, as common measles except the red rash may not come out in the German type.

The common measles is caused by Rubeola virus and is little more severe type. The person should be isolated in a room, as the virus is very highly infectious..

Symptoms include dry cough, fever and running nose.
