Answer:
Good morning respected Principal, teachers, Honourable members of the Jury and my dear friends. I, Diya, stand before you to speak against the motion that homework is essential for students' good practice.
Homework means the work allotted by the teacher to the students to be done at home. As the number of subjects and the courses, textbooks etc. are advancing, homework is becoming a drudgery, a curse and a burden. It tells upon the mental and physical health of school going children. The school bags are so heavy with the books and exercise books that students find it difficult to carry them to school and bring them back home. Children have no time to go to playgrounds or parks to play games or take exercises. Thus, they are deprived of having fun in the lap of nature. What is the reason behind it? The burden of homework has actually bent the back of the kids. It weighs heavy on their heads, heart and health. They are constantly harassed by the thought of the homework and the likely punishment by the teacher if they fail to do their homework. They keep awake late at night and seek the help of their parents to complete it.
Sometimes parents engage tutors to enable their wards to complete homework. This defeats the very purpose of giving homework. The student is deprived of reasoning, analysis, application and free thinking. Moreover, he loses the joy of successfully tackling a problem and overcoming it. The teachers should realise the practical aspect of the problem and reduce the load of homework upon the children.
