What do you think of bagless schools?
Me and my few friends were discussing the same. Whether schools in India can go bagless?
Being a teacher I had this opinion that it will take a couple of years for the schools to completely go bagless. Textbooks can be replaced with ebooks or tabs but at least few notebooks for practice purpose or a file to keep worksheets will be needed to be carried to school.

But few of my friends into film making had a different opinion.
Gohit Shetty: Schools have to be bagless. Bags are very heavy. It becomes very difficult for the school buses to fly in the air.
SLB: Because of the heavy books, school bags can not be studded with diamonds and precious gems and stones which is a necessity.

All you need to carry from home is your lunch box.
Any book you need, just unlock, pick up, lock it up again.
But wait. What about the home works? All six or seven books(may be even more) you carry by hand? Hmm..That doesn’t seem like it.
Or may be you’re actually talking about what’s inside the bag? Well yes. That needs to be reduced. School is a place where you explore a diversity of fields, from academics to sports to arts. At the end of your schooling, your parents would understand what you’re good at. Sports?
Bagless school means students doesn't have to carry books.

Not because I was was bought up in an era where heavy bags were common and no one could say a word against it. It's because without books a human would be literate not educated.
Without books there would not be an overall development of a human. Let us see how books help in Educating a human.
Books play a very crucial role in early years of a child. Reading books helps with their ability to understand words, use their imagination and develop their speech, as well as being something they really enjoy.
If you give these kids a tablet to learn, which is happening a lot these days, not only it will affect their health but also will limit their imaginative power.
When a kid reads a story, the kid imagines himself/herself as the character of the story and how he/she will defeat the huge dragon to win over the treasure hidden for decades.
Books unfolds a whole new universe for them which is made by them only.
Books helps in improving focus and concentration. Reading improves vocabulary and writing skills.
It makes you think because of which your analytical thinking skills becomes stronger. Many people even say books give them challenges which excites them.
Feelings and depth of life portraited by plays and poems can only be felt when read.
The main issue is that our system has failed to give equal importance to academics and co-curricular activities.
The best education can be given to children is to use both the books and the interactive modules and video lectures.
Without books one cannot get complete education. So bagless schools will give information to children not knowledge.
