Economic status should only be the criteria for reservation.

Good morning everyone present. I stand in front of you to express my views on ‘Economic status should only be the criteria for reservation’; and I am going to speak in favour of the motion. This reservation system had been introduced to uplift the backward and poor people in India. There were thousands of such people who had been left in grim poverty owing to so many reasons. The Government planned to better their condition by introducing the reservation system.

However, with the passage of time, corrupt practices just ruined the system. In the name of reservation, corrupt politicians, officers, and bureaucrats misused the system. Sections that had been benefitted by this system, they continued using the reservation system for their personal gains. Even after attaining economic prosperity, this system continued to be used to benefit only a few particular sections of the society.

I strongly feel, this system should have been modified frequently to help as many poor sections of the society as was possible. I strongly feel the system should be modified keeping in view the financial poverty, not any other aspect. Any person who is poor and deserves, he should be given the benefits of reservation system irrespective of class, colour, creed, or faith. This will help our country to achieve financial equality.
