Madam Chairperson,
It is a matter of great privilege for me to support the motion in addressing this august gathering.
With the advent  of computers and the rapid improvement of internet connectivity, it was quite natural that e-governance would be introduced by our union and state governments to increase the pace of our country's development. But, we seem to lose sight of an important benefit we have gained by its introduction. With its inbuilt transparency, e-governance is helping our governments in curbing corruption.
Today, information about Government jobs, schemes, benefits, subsidies, grants etc. are all available in the appropriate websites immediately on their being announced. So, an ordinary citizen is well informed and can avoid going through unofficial intermediaries, who would earlier dupe the masses and make a quick buck at every opportunity.
Earlier, one could end up paying a bribe for an elementary thing like booking a railway reservation. Today, e-governance ensures the display of available seats/berths on the railway portal and has virtually done away with corrupt practices.
Another significant benefit of e-governance is that complaints can be lodged against wayward or corrupt officials, who either do not perform their job in time or expect their palms to be greased at every opportunity.
Madam, I'm convinced one day we shall truly have Governments for the people, of the people and by the people, as the founding fathers of democracy had designed the system to be. Transparency brought in by e-governance will ensure empowerment of the people and India shall stand tall in the comity of nations!
