Media is known as the 4th pillar of democracy. It is not necessary that the media distorts public opinion. In fact, many a times, the truth comes out simply because of an active media. For instance, the Commonwealth scam in India came to light simply because the media pursued it doggedly.  However, the media also has the power to distort the truth. Recently, the media was used by Boris Johnson and other politicians in the LEAVE camp in Britain to plant manipulated data.
