Explanation:

CAA refers to as Citizenship Amendment Act. This act was passed in the Parliament by the India’s Home Minister Amit Shah.

This Amendment promises to give citizenship to the religious minorities of six communities Sikh, Christian, Hindu, Parsi, Jain and Buddhist from three countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came India on or before 31st December 2014.

According to protesters this Amendment is discriminative in nature due to following reasons-

1-        This amendment is religiously discriminative as only six communities are included.

2-        Only three countries are taken into consideration to give citizenship.

3-        This amendment will only benefit the agenda or the ruling party (BJP).

4-        Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to have citizenship. (The government has promised that illegal immigrants from the above six communities will also be able to get citizenship)

Conclusion-

When we look at the dialogues given by the protesters it may feel right that the CAA is discriminative in nature. But there is nothing like that. CAA is nowhere discriminative for Indian citizens as it does not talk about India citizens. It talks about granting citizenship to the people from the three countries who are minorities in those countries.

The protest that is taking place all across the country could feel right as the dialogues given by the protesters are correct. But there are already many laws available for the other immigrants to take citizenship in India. But also giving citizenship to these communities will also increase the burden on exchequer.
