• If some forms of punishments are used properly then it can help to dissuade them from bad behavior. e.g If a student copies assignment and the teacher gives him failing grade it can prevent the student from copying others work.

• Punishment should not aim to harass the student, instead its sole purpose should be to encourage certain behaviors and discourage others.

• Students should also be rewarded for good behavior.

• Hence it the punishment for bad behavior is balanced with reward for good behavior it will have positive effect on them rather than discouraging them.
