The Right To Education is a realistic and achievable goal that will change the face of education in India. Of course I am glad to speak for the motion, because it is realistic and achievable.
The right to education law says that all children between the age of 6 and 14 have the right to compulsory and free education. This is irrespective of cast, community and gender. The private schools are given the guidelines that they should reserve 25% of admission in their schools for poor and backward children and impart education free of charges.
This is an achievable goal if we set our minds to it. The children from the backward area and poor communities do not attend school because of deficient transport systems, starvation and lack of other things like books and uniform. But now, thanks to certain commercial companies and other NGOs there are provisions to provide the needy with these. Most of the state Governments are ready to provide free transportation, uniform and books to the children. The noon meals are also provided in such schools. As a result, the admission rate in schools begin to escalate now and the RTE act has become very much achievable.
If at all something is missing, it is in the case of awareness among parents. Many of the parents feel that if they can use an extra pair of hands in earning livelihood, they will be far better of than getting their children educated. This attitude must change. You and I, as students, can help in this. We must take it upon ourselves to spread awareness of the need for education and impress up on the parents that getting education is now one of the fundamental rights of their children and they will have to face the consequences if they deny it to the children.
In this way the RTE becomes very much achievable. There is no doubt that it will change the face of India in front of the world. The age globalization makes it very necessary that 100% of our citizens are able to reap its benefits without falling into some of its pitfalls. It goes without saying that an educated citizen is much more valuable to his country than an illiterate one. It will solve the problem of outside forces influencing them and leading them to the path of terrorism and violence. So it is very necessary that we strive hard to make RTE a reality and the situations so far have proved that it is 100% possible.
