Should Crackers Be Banned On Dewali?
Good morning everyone present. I am going to express my views on ‘Should Crackers Be Banned On Dewali?’ And I am going to speak in favor of the motion. I strongly feel the crackers should be banned completely. As all of you know Diwali is just round the corner! Let’s celebrate this Diwali differently. Our cities have already become polluted to the maximum. Let’s not pollute them anymore! Cannot we celebrate Diwali without crackers? Is it compulsory to fill our already polluted environment with more poison? Are we wise in doing so? Why do we precipitate the process of our own fall and sufferings? Bursting fire crackers has only disadvantages! Wastage of money, poisonous smoke, unbearable noise, fire accidents, garbage, litter, etc.! And still we want to burst them!
Crackers often contain elements like copper, cadmium, sulphur, aluminium and barium to produce the vibrant colours once ignited. The harmful gases produced from the bursting of crackers, such as Nitrous Oxide, remains in the air until the rain or strong winds reduce the pollution. Inhaling the fumes emitted by firecrackers adversely affects men and women’s health. It will cause fatal diseases such as cancer, diseases of lungs, asthma, etc.
Let’s join hands to say no to crackers this Diwali. Let’s not poison the air our children breathe. We have the responsibility of bequeathing a cleaner and healthier future. If we won’t ensure their safety and happiness, who else will?
Diwali is the festival of lights, but it is getting hazy due to the air and noise pollution.
According to my opinion the crackers should be banned.
Some of its reasons are as follows:
I)Air pollution- the release of nitrogen dioxide and sulphur dioxide from the crackers may affect the asthma patients.
II)Chemical hazards- the crackers constitute of various chemical hazards such as- copper, lead, sodium, zinc, nitrate and nitrite.
III)Noise pollution- high decibels can lead to temporary or permanent hearing impairment.
IV)Harm to property and economy- the crackers sometimes destroy the natural resources and properties too. Crores are spoilt every year on these crackers.
