Everyone likes doing something to keep themselves amused. These are called hobbies. I think everyone must have a hobby as it lends a sense of well being and creativity to a person.
Some paint while some dance or sing. I read books and also live to play cricket. Some may have strange hobbies like writing poetry, photography, gardening or trekking in the hills.
None of these hobbies can be called a waste of time as they come from within. A person’s natural talent is sharpened as he practices his hobbies. Few are lucky and can make a career out of their hobbies. Mahendra Dhoni made his hobby, playing cricket into his career. He excels in it and has made India proud. So has Amitabh Bachan, he used to take part in plays as a hobby. Cinema followed, he has been entertaining us for years.
Thus, hobbies can never be considered useless as long as it is done in leisure hours. We should not neglect our duties nor indulge in hobbies which might endanger lives. For example, some people like to hunt animals or go fishing. This kind of hobby is not to be encouraged as it is cruelty towards animals.
Hobbies that allow us to be constructive will always be encouraged by our parents and teachers.
