My fitness journey started similarly to many others, for pure aesthetic reasons. My weight fluctuated from diet to diet and workout to workout as I fell under the misconception of equating my self worth my external appearance. Don’t get me wrong, physical appearance can kick start your journey but it will always be temporary. I compare it to starving yourself all the time. Although it’s satisfying to finally eat when the moment comes, the feeling is temporary and unsustainable because you are always ravaging towards the next meal. You will never sustain on this journey. Now imagine knowing that you have all the ingredients necessary to feed yourself an awesome meal when the time is right. How much more would you enjoy the process and the meal when you got it?

For me, things never resonated and my body never held on to any transformation until I came across this thing called yoga. My practice reminded me that fitness was only one part of it and instead it evolved into a health and wellness lifestyle. From experience, trust me when I say your physical appearance can only be a reflection of what is inside. That is why I encourage you to seek to understand and appreciate what’s within as much as you do externally. Instead of chasing a number on a scale or a certain look, shift your focus to bringing out the best version of yourself. Remember, you get there by realizing that you are already there.

Don’t get me wrong, this journey was and continues to be one of the most difficult things I’ve experienced in my life. Will it be hard? Yes. Will it be worth it? Absolutely.
At my heaviest I was close to 250lbs. Today I am in the best shape of my life, endorsed by one of the world’s leading fitness companies, and blessed with the opportunity to help others realize their best selves every single day of my life. Trust in the process and enjoy the journey. I love you, I believe in you, #namaste
