I think it’s overly simplistic to both generalize that teens are subject to “moral degradation” and that media or any other institution is responsible for such.

First off, adolescents are still learning and exploring how to interact in society. That also means questioning some of the traditions and customs which you and I may take for granted. Questioning traditional moral rules is not necessarily “moral degradation” but may in fact lead to moral advances — such as when more and more people questioned their culture’s insistence that different racial groups ought to remain separate, and with one group deemed superior to one or more others.

Secondly, adolescents are individuals. Each makes up their own mind what ethical values to embrace, and how to act according to those values. At one end of the spectrum, some may embrace the rules of their parents without question; at the other end, some will rebel completely. But as adolescents grow into adulthood, each determines how they will live in society.
